Marshall Faulk asks the following question this week.
Spoiler, hunter or contender? My #GMCPlaybook question for @SBNation: what role will your team play? http://t.co/jBTDuZIm7O
— Marshall Faulk (@marshallfaulk) November 4, 2014
The answer is pretty simple. At 1-8 the Jets aren't going to get close to the postseason. They are purely in spoiler mode the rest of the way.
They have games the rest of the way against Pittsburgh, New England, Buffalo, and a pair against Miami that will likely have meaning for those teams. The Jets will indeed be playing in meaningful games down the stretch even if they are only meaningful for the other team.
Last year the Jets successfully played spoiler in a Week 17 victory at Miami over the Dolphins. That kept Miami out of the postseason. Can this team play a similar spoiler role again? We'll see.
