Eagles vs. Panthers Game Thread

The Sanchize Strikes Back.

Thomas B. Shea

Monday Night Football 2014, week 10. Tonight we have the Panthers visiting the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. The Panthers come into this game only a half game out of first place in a weak NFC South division despite a losing record of 3-5-1. The Eagles sit atop the NFC East at 6-2, looking to keep some distance between themselves and the second place Cowboys.

The Panthers feature star rookie receiver Kelvin Benjamin, Scott Salmon's favorite player, along with quarterback Cam Newton and a fast, tough defense. The Eagles have seen their starting quarterback, Nick Foles, go down to injury, leaving the offense in the dubious hands of Mark Sanchez. The Eagles attack features star running backs LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles, along with receiver Jeremy Maclin having a career year with 790 yards and 8 TDs in only eight games.

With Carolina featuring, other than Benjamin, a collection of not ready for prime time receivers and a tepid running game, and Philadelphia being led by one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL, this game does not figure to provide much in the way of offensive fireworks. However, with playoff implications for both teams, it remains a game worth watching. Enjoy the game, enjoy the Sanchize, enjoy football under the lights. Discuss the game here. The normal rules apply. Do not ask for links to illegal broadcasts of games. Do not provide them either.
