Steelers vs. Texans Game Thread

Houston against Pittsburgh. Shades of a long gone blood feud.

Bob Levey

Monday Night Football 2014, week 7. Tonight we have the Houston Texans visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Many of you are too young to remember, but Houston vs. Pittsburgh was once one of the most heated rivalries in NFL history. That was a different Houston team, the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans) with the legendary Earl Campbell at running back. Those two teams competed annually for the division title in some of the fiercest, toughest, most brutal football matchups imaginable. Think Ravens vs. Steelers, only ratchet it up a notch or two. But this Pittsburgh vs. Houston matchup lacks the juice of those days long gone. These teams are not division rivals, nor are either of them likely to compete for a division championship. Instead we get a somewhat lackluster matchup of two 3-3 teams playing to escape a losing record. Not the greatest of Monday night games, but we still can enjoy watching Big Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and the rest of the Steelers offense go up against All Universe one man wrecking crew J.J. Watt and the ferocious Houston front four. Enjoy the game, enjoy football under the lights. Discuss the game here.
