The weak Jets secondary just took a major blow with the news that Dee Milliner, the 9th overall selection in the 2013 NFL draft will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn archilles.
ESPN are reporting the news referencing an anonymous source, but these are usually very reliable. Milliner who showed some real class towards the end of an injury and performance plagued 2013 will be out for 6-9 months and miss the entire off-season as well as the start of training camp.
This does mean that through two years in the NFL, Milliner will have started just 14 games out of a possible 32 and the questions about the value of the pick will once again be questioned. Milliner injured himself in a freak no contact incident against the Broncos while trying to block a field goal.
Milliner had 5 surgeries while at Alabama and it's beginning to feel as though he'll never be able to stay fit, especially with the demands at this level. The Jets starters for Thursday night will be Darrin Walls and Phillip Adams. Oh Dear!
It is also reported that Brian Winters the Jets guard will have surgery on an ACL injury to his knee and also be out for the season. Winters who has felt the wrath of Jets fans this year will be replaced in the line-up by Oday Aboushi. It's always hard to lose players and I never want to see injuries, but Oday Aboushi will now have a chance to stake a claim to the LG responsibilities going forward after Winters has struggled over the past 12 months.
