Jets Rumor: Staff to Stay Stable?

New, comments
Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

His Cimininess reports the Jets are not expected to make big changes to the coaching staff.

At least six assistants have contracts that expire Feb. 1. Departures can't be ruled out, considering all the openings around the league, but the key staffers are expected back. That means offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

So take that for what it is worth. For a few days, we were hearing changes might have been possible. In a few weeks, we'll know. Gotta love the offseason.

I think a low staff turnover might be a good thing. There has been a lot of movement in recent years from important staffers. It would be nice to have a little continuity.

One guy to keep an eye on as a potential addition is Ravens run game coordinator Juan Castillo. There is a lot of speculation about his job status. Castillo worked as offensive line coach in Philadelphia together with Marty Mornhinweg from 2006 to 2010. He was then moved to defensive coordinator, which proved disastrous, but many Eagles fans think highly of the job he did on the offensive line. Previous reports have indicated Jets offensive line coach Mike Devlin does not have a contract for next year.
