I love having a search to see who has us taking whom in the 2014 NFL draft, some of them I understand, some of them are logical, some of them just don't make any sense. I've put a collection together below of some of the most popular picks. Take them with a pinch of salt.
Jace Amaro - TE Texas Tech
The Jets would love to nab one of the top three receivers in this draft — on paper, Watkins, Evans or Lee. Short of that, they could turn their focus to one of the two new-breed tight ends: Ebron or Amaro. With Ebron off the board, the Jets here nab Texas Tech’s standout. Amaro bamboozled defenses as a matchup problem all season, and Geno Smith would learn quickly to love him as a target.
Rob Rang - Eric Ebron - TE, North Carolina
Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina: Rookie Geno Smith certainly took his lumps as a rookie but considering the weapons surrounding him, his struggles aren't surprising and he appears likely to return as the Jets' starter in 2014. The Jets have invested heavily in receivers with less than inspiring results. Adding a legitimate mismatch in the incredibly athletic Ebron makes more sense given the conservative offense head coach Rex Ryan prefers.
Dane Bruglar - Marquise Lee, WR, USC
Marqise Lee, WR, Southern California: Although he's been a turnover machine, Geno Smith will likely hold onto the starting gig for another year. And the Jets need to add more weapons to the offensive arsenal and Lee will be one of the targets New York will consider.
Jace Amaro - TE - Texas Tech
The Jets need to add more play-makers to the roster because Geno Smith is surrounding by the worst supporting cast in the NFL. The top weapon who can be added to the roster is Jace Amaro, a stud tight end out of Texas Tech. Kellen Winslow proved to be an insufficient replacement for Dustin Keller, so this is a position New York will look to upgrade this offseason.
Brandin Cooks - WR - Oregon State
Cooks' production this season was no fluke. He lacks national exposure but is an elite talent. Cooks can take over for Santonio Holmes as Geno Smith's featured receiver.

No team is in need of offensive playmakers than the Jets. Lee is right there with Watkins at the WR position, and the Jets could love to get their hands on one of the playmakers
Brandin Cooks - WR - Oregon
Cooks has officially declared for the draft, and his fantastic production this year was no fluke. Cooks may not be on the national scene yet, but he’s an elite talent with the vertical ability to take over for Santonio Holmes as the feature receiver for Geno Smith moving forward
Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
There is little or no doubt that the Jets most pressing need is for playmakers on offense, especially in the passing attack. After all Santonio Holmes will be 30-years-old next season and hasn’t exactly been the picture of health as of late while the young and talented Stephen Hill has yet to translate his considerable potential into production. Texas A&M WR Mike Evans is just a redshirt sophomore but he put up some ridiculous numbers that appeared to be straight out of a video game as Johnny Manziel’s favorite target. Evans is a big-bodied playmaker and a matchup nightmare but will have to answer questions about his speed in pre-draft workouts to secure a spot in round one. With that said Evans could be right in the mix battling Marqise Lee of USC to be the second wideout off the board after Clemson’s Sammy Watkins should he opt to play for pay next season. New York could also be in the market for a pass rushing outside linebacker since Calvin Pace is in his mid-thirties and there really isn’t much depth to speak of. Alabama S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and North Carolina TE Eric Ebron are other options that may draw serious consideration.
Johnny Manziel - QB - Texas A&M
Since the coaching staff returns, there’s a chance that Geno Smith will be back as well. But it’s hard to see what from Smith’s 2013 campaign could have convinced them that he’s the long-term answer. Obviously landing a quarterback at No.18 is far from a guarantee, but if someone falls they have to consider it.
Jace Amaro - TE - Texas TechIf Geno is the man, you have to help him. There is no #1 on this team with Santonio Holmes looking like he lost a major step after injury. Plus, the Kellen Winslow Experiment did not work.

Eric Ebron - TE - North CarolinaEbron reminds me of Vernon Davis but with more upside, has room to grow, and is another freak of nature. He can also line up as a receiver and he ran between 4.5 and 4.6 on his forty times, thus he has the speed and athletic frame to become the Jets go to receiver or target down field. He has solid blocking skills on both passing, run, and read downs. He also has a surprisingly good vertical leap, which makes him a game changer and the Jets passing game needs a player with his abilities. His skill set and tangibles are top notch. Geno Smith to Eric Ebron is a combo the fan base will enjoy hearing over the next few seasons.
