[Edit by John B, 09/07/13 11:55 AM EDT ] ESPN New York says the plan is indeed to re-sign him Monday when his contract will not be guaranteed.

Adam Schefter reports the Jets are going to release Brady Quinn, a quarterback who was signed a few days ago.
Jets are releasing QB Brady Quinn today.

This probably indicates one of five things is true.
A. The Jets are being really, really cheap and are cutting Quinn so they don't have to guarantee his contract for the season. They signed him this week to get him in the building and familiar with the playbook and his teammates. He will be re-signed after this game.
B. The Jets have come to believe carrying four quarterbacks is bad roster management, even with Mark Sanchez injured. I mean if Scenario A is true, having a fourth quarterback is so useless that the team feels cutting him before a game for purely financial reasons won't be a problem.
C. The Jets saw what Quinn can do and are so unimpressed that they want him gone.
D. The Jets have found another free agent/waived player they think is a better developmental guy.
E. Sanchez's condition is drastically improving.
We will find out soon enough which of these is true. My personal guess is A.
