Jake Steinberg noted yesterday the Jets have interest in bringing back return man Leon Washington, who was recently cut by the Patriots.
The #Jets are showing a lot of interest in Leon Washington. Remember, he was in Seattle with Idzik last year. #nyj

Washington played with the Jets from 2006 to 2009. A contract dispute and a gruesome injury led to a trade to Seattle during the 2010 NFL Draft.
Leon is still a very capable return man. He finished second in the league in kickoff return average last year, ahead of Joe McKnight. With the team's offense likely to be a work in progress, the return game can be a big asset for this team scoring points. Good field position means the offense has to do less work to get on the board.
McKnight was in many ways brought in to replace Washington in 2010. Joe did everything imaginable to get himself cut. It would be ironic if the Jets turned to Leon to replace him. It is definitely worth exploring.
