Going along with yesterday's report by Brian Costello and what everybody expected, the Jets have confirmed Geno Smith will start Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If Smith does not totally implode, it stands to reason he will get a chance to start this year and convince the Jets not to take a quarterback early in the 2014 NFL Draft.
If you are looking for a little bit of hope that Geno can turn things around after his rough preseason, I'll direct you to Andy Dalton. Two years ago, Dalton threw 1 touchdown against 3 interceptions, had a 59.6 quarterback rating, and averaged under 5 yards per attempt in three of his four preseason contests. He ended up being not spectacular but adequate during his rookie year regular season and did enough for his team to make a surprise trip to the Playoffs.
Two preseason games might be too small of a sample size to tell how Geno will really do. He also stands to improve as he learns. Hopefully for the Jets' sake he does.
