First of all, I would like to say thanks to John B for giving me writers access. I've been reading this site going on five years now, so it's really cool to actually be able to contribute to it like this now.
Anyways, since we played two games there were more tweets this week then usual. In order to conserve bandwidth, I had to put all the quotes in blockquote format and delete the random tweets section. Tell me if it's still too hard to load and I'll try to trim it down some more. It's hard for me to tell since my computer is already kind of slow.

Jets-Bucs Post Game Analysis
Antwan Barnes is another good example of how coaching is greater than talent. He looked phenomenal after looking inconsistent in SD.
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
On offense, Geno was shaky all the way around. He had a hard time getting through progressions, defining keys, and with ball location.
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
NYJ WRs struggled to get separation and were a little protective of their bodies over the middle. OL looked solid vs. an average pass rush.
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
And the Jets aren't as bad as you think. It made a good story to make fun of them so the perception is off. That defense is legit.
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
I love all the responses of, "Geno looked good. 24/36. Etc. etc." I'd be interested to know how many studied coaches film.
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
On this play, Lavonte David sugars the A-gap and the OL doesn't account for him. He's essentially a free blitzer. pic.twitter.com/sRd9BnmrJx
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
But instead of going to the QB, David plows into the side of the center to set a pick for Gerald McCoy. pic.twitter.com/4P0XPexQfh
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
The RB Bilal Powell had David marked to block, but when he didn't actually come, McCoy was late and Powell could get leverage.
— NFL Philosophy (@NFLosophy) September 12, 2013
.@MockFalcons The playcall assumes that the guard would block David. The Jets didn't.

Mayock: Yesterday morning, I said Geno wasn't ready for prime time and he proved me wrong. #NYJ
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
Mayock: Thought Geno was too raw and not ready to play against a live NFL defense in a regular season game...
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
Mayock: Thought Mornhinweg protected Geno with the way he called the game yesterday against a good defense...
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
Mayock: The running game was anemic but they still committed to it with 29 attempts. Also moved the pocket in numerous ways to help Geno...
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
Mayock: As game progressed, Geno got more comfortable. Was very impressed with his 2nd half performance...
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
Mayock: Still has concerns about Geno's pocket awareness/ball security. Wants him to anticipate throws but notes that's normal for rookie QB
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
Mayock: Geno had 5 effective scrambles yesterday. Wants to see him continue to use his legs rather than sit in the pocket for too long.
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 9, 2013
One thing about the roughness call on Tampa; that play wasn't a penalty 10 years ago. It's a different NFL
— Frank Isola (@FisolaNYDN) September 8, 2013
An example of #Jets defense versatility: Demario Davis played every LB position vs Tampa - from MLB in 43 front to OLB in 34 front.
— Gonzalo Estradé (@PFF_Gonzalo) September 10, 2013
Wilkerson moved around a lot too - 29 snaps as edge defender, 31 as interior DL and 5 from 2-point stance. #Jets
— Gonzalo Estradé (@PFF_Gonzalo) September 10, 2013
Geno was probably checking twitter when Nick Folk made that kick

The Jets allowed 9 QB Hurries to Geno. How many did Ferguson allow? 5! Vlad Ducasse gave up a sack and 2 QB Hits. That Left side, ugh.
— Erik from @JetsTwit (@e_man) September 9, 2013
Geno under pressure: completion % dropped from 80.8% to 25%, QB rating from 116.5 to 4.9 and PFF rating from +2.2 to -2.9. #Jets
— Gonzalo Estradé (@PFF_Gonzalo) September 9, 2013
Geno left pocket 17 times in Wk 1, most of any QB, per @ESPNStatsInfo. He was 6-for-9, 60 yards, 6 scrambles for 47 yds, 2 sacks. #Jets
— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) September 12, 2013
6 out of 9 made Geno the week 1 leader for completions outside the pocket.

Chris Ivory as a receiver: three targets - one drop, one interception and one incompletion. Powell caught 4-of-5 for 35 yards. #Jets

— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) September 12, 2013
I asked Antwan Barnes if they can rattle Brady: "Of course, anybody can get to him. You probably can get to him." I have heckuva swim move.
— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) September 10, 2013
Say this about Geno Smith, he's done his homework. I asked him what stands out about Patriots defense, and he named 9 of the 11 starters.
— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) September 10, 2013
I know it kinda sounds odd, but to hear a rookie QB rattle off 9 of 11 starters on defense he'll face is good sign. He's doing his homework.
— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) September 10, 2013
Again, my point exactly. RT @mtd10mm: @cpriceNFL hell Tannehill didn't know what teams were in the AfC / NFC his rookie year!
— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) September 10, 2013
For example, he knew Hightower went to Alabama & that Gregory came to NE from SD. Not the type of answer you usually get from a rookie QB.
— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) September 10, 2013
I'm not saying it'll help him Sunday, but to see rookie QB know that sort of thing 1 day after putting last game in rearview....it's rare.
— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) September 10, 2013
Sanchez is catching the ball with 2 hands. Last week he had someone catching 4 him. He just put both hands over his head to catch one. #nyj

He played terrible last night but I give credit to Clyde Gates. He took the loss on his shoulders like a man. Rough night for him #Jets

A lot of cognitive dissonance among Patriots' WRs in the locker room. I especially enjoyed Aaron Dobson talking about his "great" game.

Jets-Patriots Post Game Analysis
Geno certainly serviceable at QB right now, but holding the ball too long. Watch out when the game starts slowing down for him. ..
— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) September 13, 2013
Here's the secret about Clyde Gates. He will ALWAY be open. He's fast as hell. But if someone's touching him expect a drop.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) September 13, 2013
The thing that stands out about Geno as a leader, is that he's never looking around for help always decisive, always the team looking to him
— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) September 13, 2013
Yeah, Geno Smith needs to up his game, but two receivers fell down on his first pick. That's not good.
— SI_DougFarrar (@SI_DougFarrar) September 14, 2013
All three of Geno Smith's interceptions were underthrown balls. Less about decision than about execution. Patriots secondary capitalized.
— Oliver Thomas (@OliverBThomas) September 13, 2013
In all, I thought Geno Smith made mostly good decisions. His feel for the vertical game was what hurt him. Needed to push ball downfield.
— Oliver Thomas (@OliverBThomas) September 13, 2013
Great analysis by @PFF_Sam on Dobson TD. Pats had 3-WR look w/extra OL. Milliner failed to recognize 3rd WR. Wrong alignment. #nyj

After watching replay of Jets-Patriots skirmish near end of game, #NYJ LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson clearly took a swing at Pats C Ryan Wendell

Officials really do cause half these 'touched an official' ejections. Stop man-handling giant, pissed off, football players!
— Sam Monson (@PFF_Sam) September 13, 2013
You simply can't expect to be able to grab and push someone in those situations and him to NOT want to make you stop doing it...Ejection!
— Sam Monson (@PFF_Sam) September 13, 2013

The Mark Sanchez Conundrum
Sanchez on missing the season opener: "It was killing me." #nyj
— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) September 9, 2013
Rex declined comment on Sanchez postgame. And per @RichCimini, Jets wanted Sanchez to talk to reporters in the locker room, and he declined.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) September 13, 2013
... Like I said yesterday, the implication here is that both the Jets and Mark Sanchez are preparing themselves for the separation.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) September 13, 2013
Mark Sanchez is making a worse decision than any Geno made last night. He needs to move on. The #Jets already have.
— Mike Greenberg (@Espngreeny) September 13, 2013
@MMehtaNYDN treated him likr nobility right the way up until that in his career so it's probably a wash overall
— Sam Monson (@PFF_Sam) September 13, 2013
Mark Sanchez to @richeisen: "There's no doubt" he won the QB competition. Rex today: "I never said he won the competition." Of course.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 13, 2013
Ryan said he didn't have an issue with Sanchez saying he won because he wants players to have confidence in themselves. #nyj
— Seth Walder (@SethWalderNYDN) September 13, 2013
Understand Sanchez's attempt to hold on. Sees that new regime has moved on, just waiting for 2013 contract guarantee to run out.
— Andrew Brandt (@adbrandt) September 13, 2013
The only "breaking" part of this Sanchez news is that he might have surgery. Sanchez already had an old partial labrum tear before this hit.
— Deb (@LilMissNYJet) September 12, 2013
Jay Glazer even mentioned that Sunday. Hence why MRIs were "inconclusive" - it’s not like Dr. Andrews found a tear that another doc missed.
— Deb (@LilMissNYJet) September 12, 2013
From @MikeSilver: "Make no mistake: Mark Sanchez is frustrated with the Jets."
— NFL: AroundTheLeague (@NFL_ATL) September 12, 2013
Sanchez is the past and, due to contract guarantee, the present. Idzik drafted Geno, ready to move to the future.
— Andrew Brandt (@adbrandt) September 14, 2013
The Jets must, in some way, want Mark Sanchez to return. Why? Teams only get 1 IR/to return slot. They're using it on Sanchez. It's burned
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 14, 2013
Probably not a coincidence the Jets put Mark Sanchez on IR just as he was starting to become outspoken. Savvy move to eliminate distraction.
— Bart Hubbuch (@HubbuchNYP) September 14, 2013
Does Idzik want Sanchez to be on 2014 Jets? "We're not looking forward at 2014... Mark is a very important part of team this year this week"
— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) September 14, 2013
Amazing Idzik still says it was "not a mistake" to put Sanchez in during 4th Q of a preseason game. Are they TRYING to piss off Sanchez?
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 14, 2013
For those who asked, Sanchez eligible to do everything except practice for next 6 weeks. Can take part in meetings/conditioning. #NYJ
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 14, 2013
Why use only short-term IR on a non-starter? Idzik says because he's a QB, rule tailor-made for this situation. #Jets
— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) September 14, 2013
Idzik also says Sanchez wants to remain with team for rehab. Calls him the "ultimate team player". Wants to help Geno and other QB's. #NYJ
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 14, 2013
Idzik still not willing to name Geno the starting QB past week 3 game against the Bills. Curious... #NYJ
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) September 14, 2013
Explaining why they took so long to make this move, Idzik said they thought Sanchez w/b back soon given history as quick healer. Hmm. #Jets

From what I understand, surgery not a guaranteed fix for Sanchez. He said just now on conf call docs told him he's "doing the right thing."
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) September 14, 2013
Sanchez also called outside opinions that he should have surgery right now "laughable" because those people didn't sit in on his doc visits.
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) September 14, 2013
Mark Sanchez is currently in LA. He saw a doctor Friday for another opinion on his shoulder, The Post has learned. #NYJ
— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) September 14, 2013
Mark Sanchez will be paid $8.75M by the Jets this season. That's more than RG3, A. Luck, R. Wilson, C. Newton and C. Kaepernick COMBINED.
— ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) September 12, 2013
If Mark Sanchez does land on IR, Jets would have $14.896M in cap dollars on IR, highest in NFL & ~12% of their adj. cap number.

Pace: "Now u get on TV and want to boost your career up and say oh, it was the worst organization when your previous 1 kicked u to the curb"

Rex is the most misunderstood coach in the league. Fat Rex gave my career new life

Santonio Holmes is the closest thing the current NFL has to Cris Carter now in terms of sideline/boundary receiving.

Geno really doesn't step into his throws for some reason. Seems to bounce UP rather than through the ball/throw

Jets benched CB Dee Milliner Thursday night. But people who watched Jets this summer said Milliner struggled mightily.

Fans destroying Stephen Hill need to look at Roddy White's age 24-25 yrs, when he had dropsy rep. Hill is 22. Just saying.

Good Geno: trigger, trigger, trigger. Bad Geno: holding the ball too long, wildly inaccurate throwing deep.

Good omen or irrelevant? Jets offense was Top 5 in preseason in passing yds (2nd), yds per play (2nd) & total offense (4th). 6th in PPG #nyj

Here's why #Jets can't win: Everyone misses Chubby Rex, but ppl are mad bcuz Wilkerson says he expects to beat #Pats

Since Olbermann/LaCanfora criticism, good writers on the beat have subtly distinguished themselves. Not spewing click-bait (re: Mo 2-0)

I want to know why Jim Leonhard was playing in the sub nickel/dime over the draft picks Duke Williams and Jonathan Meeks for the #Bills.

I would bet it was the classic case of a coordinator feeling more "comfortable" with a vet that supposedly knows the scheme over youth.
— Louis Riddick (@LRiddickESPN) September 12, 2013
Except in this case, the vet is a marginal player that was victimized over and over by the #Patriots' ability to find/exploit weaknesses.
— Louis Riddick (@LRiddickESPN) September 12, 2013
I thought that was interesting because maybe the whole playing favorites thing wasn't just due to Rex. Not that excuses certain players from getting benched though.
