NFL Week 2 Picks

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

New England over NY Jets

Even in the Patriots' compromised state, I don't think the Jets are ready to go up to Foxborough and beat Tom Brady. Also I picked against the Jets last week, and they won so if you think I'm trying to jinx the Pats, you know me too well.

Buffalo over Carolina

Both teams lost heartbreakers at home last week. I get the feeling Buffalo's was a confidence builder that they can play with New England, while Carolina had a feeling of deja vu stomach punch losing another close game.

Baltimore over Cleveland

This feels like your typical home opener against a soft opponent to take out all of the frustrations of an embarrassing Week 1 loss.

Chicago over Minnesota

I'm expecting Minnesota to regress big time this year. That means two straight in division road losses to start the year.

Dallas over Kansas City

The Cowboys are the team you can never figure out. Typically they would follow up a big home win with a letdown on the road. So I'm predicting no letdown. Let's see whether I've finally cracked the code.

Washington over Green Bay

One defending division champion is going to go 0-2. I liked Green Bay at home until I thought of how much trouble Colin Kaepernick gives the Packers and the fact the Redskins have Robert Griffin III.

Houston over Tennessee

I don't think the Titans have two straight big performances in them.

Indianapolis over Miami

I'm one of the few who isn't expecting big regression from the Colts. They won the first week but not convincingly. This game will probably tell us a lot more.

Philadelphia over San Diego

I still need to see more to totally buy Chip Kelly, but that was an impressive start. This pick is more about San Diego. They seem like the same old Chargers.

Atlanta over St. Louis

Atlanta is coming home angry after letting a road game get away. St. Louis is riding high after opening with a win. Atlanta is a better team. This points to a Falcons win.

Detroit over Arizona

I believe in you. Don't let me down, Lions.

New Orleans over Tampa Bay

Sometimes you lose games because of bad luck. Other times its undisciplined play because of bad coaching. I think with Tampa Bay last week we saw the latter. I can't trust them.

NY Giants over Denver

I'm going with desperation in this one.

Oakland over Jacksonville

Both of these teams figure to be at the bottom of the league, but the Raiders at least showed signs of life last week.

Seattle over San Francisco

I know it wasn't pretty, but the Seahawks really impressed me gutting out a road win across the country in an early start last week. That's the kind of game an immature team that has been reading its own hype loses. That stadium is going to be a nightmare to visit for a primetime home opener.

Cincinnati over Pittsburgh

I think this might be the worst Steelers team we have seen in a long while.
