The New York Jets have re-signed Ben Obomanu, surprising even the beat reporters, who had no idea Obomanu was even there until he physically showed up for practice. This is almost certainly a sign that Jeremy Kerley will not play this Thursday against the New England Patriots, as he suffered a concussion this past Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As you may remember, the last wide receiver spot was really between Obomanu, Mohamed Massaquoi, and the legendary Braylon Edwards. Both Massaquoi and Edwards proved themselves to be pretty much useless and farther over the hill than the Von Trapp family at the end of The Sound of Music. Obomanu proved himself to be only marginally better as a receiver, but he offers special team value, and that's really all you can ask for from a sixth receiver.
