New York Jets at Detroit Lions Game Thread

Leon Halip

We take another step closer to the start of the 2013 season tonight as the Jets take the field to take on the Detroit Lions in a preseason game. The last time the Jets were in Detroit was three years ago, when they put in a lackadaisical effort for most of the game before winning in overtime with a late rally. That Jets team almost made it to the Super Bowl.

This year's Jets team has more modest expectations. This is hopefully a step on the way to a surprisingly good campaign. We will not see much of the starters tonight, but there are plenty of position battles for which this game will have major implications. None is more important than quarterback. Mark Sanchez will start, but Geno Smith is still in the mix.

Leave your thoughts below. If you're new to our game threads, the biggest rule is to neither ask for nor provide links to illegal broadcasts of the game over the internet. Doing so will result in a temporary ban.

Since you might not be familiar with some of the names you will see, click here for the team roster.
