Jets vs. Eagles Final Score: Jets Win 27-20

The Star-Ledger-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets concluded their preseason tonight against the Philadelphia Eagles, a contest with few snaps played by players expected to be key contributors on either side. The Jets won 27-20.

Matt Simms made a case to make the team as the third quarterback. He overcame shaky protection to complete 33 of his 44 passes for 285 yards. Would it be a travesty if he didn't beat out Greg McElroy for the number three job? Absolutely not, Simms has marginal upside despite playing well in the final two preseason games, and McElroy has shown he can execute a limited playbook over a short stretch to win a real game. You can now at least make a case for Simms.

So now we turn our attention to the regular season, which begins a week from Sunday against old friend Darrelle Revis and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
