Today, the New York Jets have announced that they have released Braylon Edwards. Edwards has been hampered by a leg injury the past week, and didn't practice at all during the week, and didn't play against the New York Giants.
As I've been saying, Edwards is a shell of what he used to be in 2010. He simply isn't a good receiver anymore. We saw that as he struggled to gain separation against backups, and he lacked the burst of speed that used to make him such a good deep threat.
With the emergence of Ryan Spadola and Ben Obomanu, this became an easy decision for John Idzik. Although Edwards will always remain a fan favorite, his time is officially done with Gang Green.
