New York Jets Sign Geno Smith: Nation Breaths Sigh of Relief

OUR LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS OVER.

USA TODAY Sports

I come bearing gifts, people! The New York Jets have announced this morning (with the media in the dark) that they have signed second round draft pick Geno Smith. Bring us all the finest bagels and muffins in the land. Today, we drink from the keg of glory.

In any case, the terms of the deal are not out yet (UPDATE: $5M over four years), and we do not know the result of the disagreement regarding the contract offsets. We'll have that info once we know more. Today, however, is also the day rookies and selected veterans report to Florham Park, New Jersey for the start of training camp. The rest of the team will report on Thursday for physicals and ocnditioning test before heading up to Cortland for camp.

But in the mean time, let's party like it's January 12, 1969.
