According to ESPN New York, the New York Jets are "toying" with the idea of using Geno Smith as a change-of-pace quarterback if he doesn't win the starting job to utilize his speed.
Sound stupid? That's because it is. In 245 rushing attempts at West Virginia University, Smith gained 342 yards. That's not what you'd normally call a dynamic runner. And Smith agrees, as he's said before that he's a pocket passing quarterback.
The typical reaction that you're going to see is people panicking in the streets and making a huge deal out of this. I'm not ready to go that far yet, because I still picture Smith as winning the competition outright.
