The New York Jets Possibly, Maybe Sign Kellen Winslow Jr.?

J. Meric

Tight End Kellen Winslow, Jr. has tweeted:

Winslow is a twenty-nine year old tight end that has played for the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks (barely) and the New England Patriots (barely). He was released from the Seahawks because he refused to reduce his salary, and asked to be released from the Patriots. Other than a single game, Winslow did not play in 2012. He is perhaps best known for this:

Listen to him make his pitch here (watch this). So, the Jets have possibly signed a soldier with some character concerns, presumably cheaply. It's going to be extremely interesting to see how this affects the tight end situation, with Jeff Cumberland, Konrad Reuland, Hayden Smith, and others. Let's hope he's healthy and he has his attitude in control. What do you think?

Edit: Per Jake Steinberg:

Edit 2: Adam Schefter has confirmed that Winslow will be participating in the minicamp on a tryout basis. He may be signed to a contract after that.
