BREAKING: Law enforcement source: No arrest warrant for Aaron Hernandez or anyone else in Lloyd investigation
— The Boston Globe (@BostonGlobe) June 21, 2013
------------------------------------------------------
A report out of Boston indicates an arrest warrant has been issued for Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez for obstruction of justice in connection with a murder.
Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez will be charged in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old Dorchester man, a law enforcement source told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 on Friday.
According to that source, an arrest warrant has been issued on a charge of obstruction of justice.
It is unclear at this time whether there will be additional charges against Hernandez in the future.
It seems trivial in this situation to break it down from a football perspective, but that is what we do here. Hernandez now potentially faces discipline from the league which could impact his status for New England's Week 2 game against the Jets. Given the serious nature of the allegations and potential criminal consequences, Hernandez could potentially be looking at a lot more missed time than that. This would not be good football news for a team already concerned with Rob Gronkowski's health status at the tight end position.
The bigger story here, however, is how sad this whole situation is. A man is dead, and the authorities are trying to get to the bottom of it. Hernandez had everything, and he's either thrown it all away senselessly or has been falsely accused of doing something and about to see his reputation tarnished. There are no winners here.
Please keep that in mind as you comment. Don't say something dumb.
