According to Ian Rapoport, David Garrard told two teammates he would be parting ways with the New York Jets. That was followed up by Adam Schein's tweet:
Text from Garrard: "Having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do."

For their part, the Jets have said that Garrard is still on the roster. We'll see when they make it official.
This is pretty interesting, because the Jets were counting on Garrard to compete for the starting quarterback position and help mentor Geno Smith. Now, it's effectively a two-man race, barring the team bringing in some other old veteran (Brian Hoyer?). It also makes it almost impossible for the Jets to cut Mark Sanchez. We'll have more information once we get more information.
