Barden was a third round pick for the Giants in 2009 who has been a bust. He has 29 catches, 394 yards, and no touchdowns in four NFL seasons.
Barden had some fans coming out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo because of his big 6'6" 230 pound frame. He had 18 touchdown catches both of in his last two college seasons, but it looks like a case of dominating inferior competition in the Great West Conference. He has not been able to refine his game in the pros.
He would be nothing more than a camp body. It would be tough to expect him to make the team, but at least he would have a miniscule amount of upside as a project unlike some of the zero upside guys the Jets have signed recently like Calvin Pace,
