Just take this for what it says on the surface, and don't even venture a guess as to whether it is true. It is possible the Jets love Geno. It is also possible they gave Manish false information because they love another quarterback and are afraid of another team looking to jump them. It is impossible to say at this point.
Even if this is true, this does not really tell the complete picture. We do not know where Geno fits on their board. They might like him better than the other quarterbacks but not feel good enough enough to commit to him the way a top fifteen selection would require them.
I think by this point the Jets have been linked to all of the top quarterback prospects in some way.
