New York Jets Sign Derek Dimke and Ryan Quigley

Justin K. Aller

The Jets have announced the signings of training camp competition for Nick Folk and Robert Malone.

The New York Jets have signed two first-year free agents, placekicker Derek Dimke and punter Ryan Quigley.

Dimke is a University of Illinois product who hit a shade under 85% of his field goal tries in college. He never missed an extra point. He spent camp with the Lions in 2012.

Quigley is a Boston College product who averaged a shade over 40 yards per punt in college. He spent camp with the Bears in 2012.

Both of these guys will be around in case there is an injury. How much of a chance they will have to compete is unclear. Quigley is a pretty marginal prospect as a punter. Dimke seems like he deserves a shot to compete with Nick Folk. Surely this team can do better than Folk. Every year we see teams sign quality kickers off the scrap heap. Maybe Dimke will be the guy for the Jets.
