Fred Davis to Visit With New York Jets

Patrick Smith

Pro Football Central reports Redskins free agent tight end Fred Davis will visit the Jets.

This has been confirmed by Redskins beat writer John Keim.

Davis is coming off a torn Achilles tendon, a very serious injury. The recovery from this injury could drive down his price. He might even need to take a cheap, one year contract to reestablish his market value like LaRon Landry, another Redskins free agent with Achilles problems, did a year ago.

Davis is a quality receiving target at tight end. The Jets surely could use one. Davis is also a former college teammate of Mark Sanchez for what that is worth. His last year at USC was 2007, when Sanchez saw extended action in three games. Davis had 12 catches for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns in those three games. On the whole, that was a dip in production, though, from when John David Booty played quarterback for the Trojans so there was no spectacular chemistry.
