Seth Walder reports Bryan Thomas is considering retirement.
Thomas, 33, was the longest-tenured Jet, having played the past 11 seasons with the team. He is a free agent now and is mulling retirement. He said his decision will come after the NFL draft late next month.
“I haven’t even thought about it, to be honest with you,” Thomas said, adding he has just been focused on rehabbing from the surgery. “If I go now and sign for the vet minimum for one year, I wouldn’t even pass the physical right now.”
Along with his recent scrape with the law, the veteran's career seems to be coming to a sad end.
The time for the Jets to move on from Thomas, however, was years ago. The outside linebacker situation looks pretty bleak right now, but Thomas wouldn't really be much of an upgrade over what the Jets have at this point of his career.
