Manish Mehta says the Jets might be interested in signing Saints backup quarterback Chase Daniel.
Jets QB competition may be getting more interesting. I'm told the Jets are expected to pursue Chase Daniel.

This would be interesting. Daniel is kind of an unknown on the NFL level. He's only thrown 9 regular season passes in his career as Drew Brees' backup.
Daniel played college at the University of Missouri. He became their starting quarterback in 2006 after Brad Smith graduated. In his three years as a starter in college, he was one of the most exciting, dynamic playmakers in the country. completing 68% of his passes in three years with 101 touchdowns against 41 interceptions. He spent the last three years being groomed by the Saints offensive coaches.
This is not to suggest Daniel is a good bet for success. As you know, being good in college does not necessarily translate to being good in the pros, and Daniel was undrafted because of his small 6'0" size and questions about his arm strength.
Given the situation the Jets are in, though, I think he's an interesting possibility. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a shot on him.
