Percy Harvin Traded to Seattle Seahawks

Tom Dahlin

Jay Glazer reports the Vikings and the Seahawks have agreed to a trade that will send Percy Harvin to the Pacific Northwest.

ESPN's John Clayton says the Seahawks are giving up a first round pick.

The Seahawks are setting themselves up to be the trendy Super Bowl pick of 2013. It will be interesting to see how they fare. There have been a lot of teams who have had disappointing years in that role.

As far as implications for the Jets, they are indirect. The biggest one is it likely takes Seattle out of the Darrelle Revis sweepstakes. The picks and contract they will have to give up for Harvin probably overlap to a large degree what they would have to part with to get Revis. Maybe it makes the division rival 49ers want Revis more, but it's a small negative in the Revis derby. The Jets' best shot might have been to start a bidding war for the corner between division rivals.

[Edit by John B, 03/11/13 2:21 PM EDT ] It also dawned on me that there has been talk about the Patriots potentially making a play for Harvin to replace Wes Welker in the slot. Viewed through that lens, this is good news for the Jets.
