Dee Milliner Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Jets cornerback Dee Milliner has won AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his two interception performance in the season finale.

It was a nice ending to a rough year for Milliner. How much do a couple of good games mean in the grand scheme of things? I don't know.

What I do know is some players make their biggest improvement between the first and second years. They now know the playbook. They now know what going through the grind of an NFL season is like and the work required. They are used to the bigger and faster opponents. With this experience, the offseason training can set them up for bigger and better things in year two. Having a taste of success can be a powerful motivating factor and make that work easier to do.
