Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback in New York against the Oakland Raiders this Sunday, Smith told media today. After David Garrard told the press that Smith was the starter as far as he knew earlier in the day, Smith confirmed himself that quarterbacks coach David Lee told he that he would be the starter.
With an inexperienced and limited talent in Matt Simms as well as the veteran and seemingly injured Garrard, the Jets are hard-pressed to have anyone else but Smith start this Sunday.
In his last six games, Geno Smith has thrown for 766 yards (128 YPG), one touchdown, 11 interceptions and a 46 percentage completion rate. Smith's last touchdown pass was against the New England Patriots on October 20th.
