The Jets have released wide receiver Ryan Spadola and linebacker Rickey Sapp from the active roster, the team announced earlier on Saturday.
Many people compared Spadola—undrafted out of Lehigh—to Wayne Chrebet this offseason, which once again goes to show that you can rarely properly evaluate a player during OTAs and preseason games. With the Jets health issues on the receiving end, cutting Spadola at this time does come as a bit of a surprise.
Ricky Sapp entered the season with expectations from some, however he has done little since joining the organization. Sapp recorded zero sacks this season.
These moves come in light of the team activating running back Mike Goodson and signing wide receiver Michael Campbell to the active roster. It's possible that the Jets bring back Spadola and/or Sapp to the practice squad if both clear waivers.
