Tight end Zach Sudfeld claimed by the New York Jets, according to a league source
— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) October 4, 2013
Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Jets have claimed tight end Zach Sudfeld. After coming into the year with some expecting him to be a suitable replacement for Gronkowski/Hernandez, the Patriots released undrafted rookie—who had zero receptions this season—on Thursday.
With Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Winslow as their starters, it has yet to be seen how big a role the 6'7 tight end will have on the Jets offense.
UPDATE:
As a corresponding move, the Jets have released linebacker Scott Solomon.
