The Patriots received some good news today in advance of Sunday's game. Tight end Rob Gronkowski has been cleared to play.
Drew Rosenhaus text: "Rob (Gronkowski) has now been cleared by all his doctors to play Sunday in the Jets game."

One can only assume the Jets have been preparing all week with the idea they would be facing Gronkowski. This is still a very significant development as Gronkowski immediately becomes the best target New England has. The 6'6" 265 pounder presents major matchup problems for the Jets (and frankly almost everybody else in the league). The Jets are going to have to dedicate extra resources to stopping him, which will open up other things.
It is possible the tight end will have to be eased back into the lineup, but he has been practicing and reportedly has looked like he is in top form during practice so we will see.
