New York Jets Release Ben Obomanu

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

According to the New York Daily News, WR Ben Obomanu has been released. The New York Jets have been active today, signing WR David Nelson and working out WR/KR Josh Cribbs. With the addition of RB Mike Goodson as well, this team will certainly have some new looks come Monday night.

Obomanu was very limited in that he primarily had special teams benefit. He had a few penalties on offense, which unfortunately doomed him. Nelson will provide more upside as a receiver, and it will be interesting to see if the team signs Cribbs as well.

I did like Obomanu, but it's hard to be upset with the team for this signing. They certainly needed to make some sort of statement about the penalties.

Thanks, Obomanu.
