Bay Area sportswriter Matt Maiocco reports the Jets will meet with Tom Gamble this weekend to discuss the general manager job.
Tom Gamble, 49ers director of player personnel, interviewed Tuesday for Jaguars GM job. His next interview is this weekend with NY Jets.
The sooner this gets underway, the better. As thorough as this search needs to be, time is of the essence. Good candidates will start going off the board. Beyond that, the Jets are not settled with their coaching staff. The sooner somebody gets in place, the sooner they can begin the search for an offensive coordinator and perhaps other jobs before the best candidates for those jobs find work.
Gamble is one of five confirmed candidates at this point along with Marc Ross, Dave Caldwell, Tom Heckert, and Scott Cohen. There are other rumored candidates who could enter the running as well from other front offices across the league.
