According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the New York Jets have fired offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo. Coach Guge, as he's known, was brought in by former offensive coordinator Tony Sparano. Guge was, by some accounts, rude and not a very nice guy. Furthermore, he wasn't exactly the best talent evaluator, professing his love for Wayne Hunter as a player. Here are a few snapshots of Guge's best lines.
I will say though that I think Guge did a well enough job this season. He turned Austin Howard, a perpetual afterthought and undrafted free agent into a passable starter, who got better as the season went on. His replacement will be Mike Devlin, the current tight ends coach.
What do you think about the firing of Coach Guge?
