Scouting the 2013 NFL Draft: RB Denard Robinson

This is not going to be your typical scouting report, because Denard Robinson isn't your typical prospect. Robinson is a quarterback at the University of Michigan, but most people do not expect for him to remain a quarterback for long. Most QBs that are dynamic with their feet translate to wide receivers at the NFL level (think Brad Smith, Antwaan Randel El, etc.) because of their movement and ability to, hopefully, read coverages. They can't throw the ball at a professional level, so they're forced to convert.

Denard Robinson is one of those quarterbacks.

But unlike those guys, who often move to receiver, Robinson has been projected by some, most notable Eric Stoner of Rotoworld, as a running back, which you can read about more here. Robinson has a thick lower body, great patience, and is dynamic with the ball. In addition, he has experience at the position. Most people think of Robinson as a twig, but that belief is unfounded. He can run through a defense or run around it. He can do an end around or a Power I. He isn't a feature back, but he's a weapon that can be used in a variety of ways... if the right coordinator is calling the plays.

I expect Robinson to go somewhere in or around the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He's a situational player, but he has potential to be a game breaker.
