We are a little more than 2 days away from the start of the 2012-2013 season. I would like to take the time to make a promise. Mr. Howard, I promise to not ridicule you into obscurity, if Mario Williams beats you a few times. I promise not to call for your head if you have a less than spectacular game. I promise not to put you on the same path of insecurity, that we put Hunter on after the Cowboy game.

On the other side of the spectrum, I also promise not to call you our savior if you do do well. I promise to not stop looking for other options if Mario doesn't make you look like Hunter. I promise to not look at Sunday's game as your death sentence or a long term contract. As a fan base, we are more tightly wound than most others. We want results, and we want them right away. Any sign of weakness, and we go ape. I don't want this to happen Sunday, If the worst happens with Howard. Let's take it for what it is. It would be one bad game. If he has a 2nd, well then things should start to be put in motion. He deserves a fare shake, and one game's performance isn't enough to tell us anything.
