Well, uh, there goes that. So much potential and promise, down the drain. According to Manish Mehta, via Twitter, the Jets will not retain RT Jeff Otah. Manish has not said whether or not Otah failed the physical again, although he presumably had to for the trade to be voided. Otah will return to the Carolina Panthers and the Jets will receive their draft pick back. Otah is likely to be cut by the Panthers, so we may be able to sign him, but who knows. If we'd even want to. It seems that the Panthers fans who stopped by to warn us were indeed correct.

It seems that Otah was disengaged and not particularly excited or motivated to play. This may be the last of him we see in the NFL. In the mean time, the Jets made a low risk gamble and lost nothing anyway. We're back to square one, and that means watching Wayne Hunter or Austin Howard start at right tackle for the Jets. Not promising? Well, there's always hope the Jets will sign Vernon Carey, or maybe Otah will be signed and come to his sense. Who knows. In any case, we'll report more when we have it.
