Osi Umenyiora has only just sorted his own contract mess out, and now he's throwing some shots our way. First of all I will just say that I respect Osi a great deal, 69 career sacks is something to be proud about. Saying that he couldn't help himself in taking a little veiled shot at the Jets:
"We go out there on the football field and play," Umenyiora said last night on NFL Network’s "Total Access." "The Jets, they’re a good football team themselves, but they have a lot of things going on that a lot of people are interested in, and they’re more interested in that than us going out there and actually winning the Super Bowl.
"So, there’s nothing wrong with that. Much respect to the New York Jets. Hopefully, things will keep on going that way."
I can't help but think this relates to Tebow and how a few people believe it was a marketing move more than a football move. I know a few people here will agree with his assessment that perhaps there are a few people in the front office and the higher reaches of the organization who would rather make headlines, and sell jerseys than win football games.
I never buy into anything like that, but I do wish that Osi would concentrate on his own team and his "Me and Jerry have always been cool" comment coming one year after he accused Giants GM Jerry Reese in a sworn affidavit of reneging on a promise to come up with a new multi-year contract. It's like Reviw saying he was "cool" with his contract.
