The Jets have declined to appear on HBO's Hard Knocks.

The Jets have decided against participating in HBO's "Hard Knocks" series for a second time in three years.

HBO approached the Jets "a few weeks ago" about participating in the program, said a league source who asked not to be identified because neither the team nor the network have publicly discussed the Jets' proposed participation in the program.

I think there is a false school of thought out there that the Jets will be successful if they avoid publicity and will not be successful if they seek it. They had a very good year in 2010 when they sought out the spotlight.

This is a good move, but avoiding the spotlight has nothing to do with it. Rex Ryan did not think it was a good mix with this particular team according to previous reports. If the head coach feels his team will react negatively, turning the show down was a good idea.
