Another son of the South, Stephen Hill was born in Tucker, Georgia in 1991 to Henry and Karen Hill. Hill went to Miller Grove High School in Georgia, receiving high grades from school scouts and being ranked as the 99th best receiving prospect in high schools around the nation by Rivals, and was ranked 23rd by Scout. Hill is well known for shattering high school long jump records.

Information available on Stephen Hill is limited. Part of this is due to the reason that Stephen Hill was featured in an option offense for three seasons before leaving school early to enter the draft as a hot prospect. In his entire college career, Hill has only 49 receptions for 1,248 yards and 9 touchdowns. Stephen Hill is also an extraordinary blocker for his position, probably a major contributing factor in the Jets decision to draft him. It is also worth noting that Demaryius Thomas came from the same offense and transitioned well into the NFL.

While his college production is limited, Hill makes up for this with his impressive scouting numbers and reports. At the NFL Combine, Hill ran a 4.36 second 40 yard dash. He had an 11 foot 1 inch long jump, just a few inches short of the Combine record, drawing heavy comparisons to Calvin Johnson. Hill also delivered a 39.25 inch vertical jump, a 6.88 second cone drill, 14 bench press reps, and a 4.48 second 20 yard shuttle. His arms are over 33 inches in length and his hands are over 9 inches.

Prior to being drafted Hill received a great deal of praise from Vinny Testaverde, who threw to Hill for the Combine. Vinny called Hill a stud and spoke highly of his skills, something that likely helped encourage the Jets. Joey Clinkscales echoed Vinny's sentiments and compared Stephen Hill to Calvin Johnson in terms of skill.

Already being promoted as a starter by Rex Ryan, Hill is widely expected to fall into the Jets #2 WR spot, justifying the team trading up to take Hill. If it is a deep threat that you desire, Stephen Hill just may be the solution we have been looking for. While largely based on potential and physical tools alone, I think Stephen Hill may very well end up outshining Justin Blackmon in the pros.
