According to Michael Lombardi the Jets have come to terms with Safety LaRon Landry on a 1 year 4 million dollar contract. This addresses what many feel was the Jets most dire need as they only had one Safety on the roster, the unpopular Eric Smith.Per Lombardi:
So to recap correctly, Laron Landry has agreed to a contract with the NY Jets and the Pats agreed with offensive lineman Robert Gallery
If Landry stays healthy and plays at least most of the season for the Jets, this should be a notable upgrade at the Strong position. Free Safety remains a major question mark, but reports have linked the Jets to O.J. Atogwe, as John B has reported to you previously. There are a few other decent options to fill a FS gap if need be, but options are fleeting. The Jets must make another move at Safety if they are going to address it through free agency this year.
I'm sure we'll have more detailed reports of the terms of the deal between Landry and the Jets as details emerge. This is a preliminary celebration thread that I'm sure many of you will make use of. One half of our Safety problem is taken care of, IF Landry is healthy. Rejoice below.
