Free agent safety Laron Landry is going to visit the Jets this weekend per Manish Mehta.
The Daily News has learned that free agent safety LaRon Landry will be visiting the Jets this weekend. Landry is expected to make four visits, according to a source.
Landry has a great deal of ability. He is a big hitter and covers a lot of ground when healthy. He also has some major injury concerns. He has missed 15 games in the past two seasons and has an Achilles problem where he reportedly has defied doctors' orders to get surgery. That is a concern.
The Jets are unfortunately in a position where they need a safety, but the pickings are slim in both free agency and the Draft. The Draft is so weak at the position that they pretty much need to make a splash in free agency. In a perfect world, I would want them to find a less risky option than Landry. They might not have that luxury.
