SB Nation Mock Has Michael Floyd Going to Jets

SB Nation's latest mock draft has the Jets taking Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd in the first round.

Santonio Holmes' opinion aside, the Jets could certainly use another receiver. Floyd is actually a pretty good complement to the Jets' offense, giving them a big possession receiver with good hands and the ability to pick up yards after the catch. Floyd will also be useful in the red zone.

I am of two minds on this. I do like Floyd as a prospect. The Jets also do need a receiver to put opposite Santonio Holmes.

I am not sure this is the right move, though. One thing that successful NFL franchises do is put a system into place and find players who maximize how effective the system is. With the Jets going to more of a power running attack under Tony Sparano, the importance of the wide receiver position becomes less important. With a big tackle who mauls in the run game in Cordy Glenn still on the board as well as Courtney Upshaw, a pass rusher for a defense that likes to get to the quarterback still on the board, I am not sure I am sold on Floyd being the pick.

What are your thoughts?
