New York Jets General Manager Search: Jets Ask Permission to Interview Tom Gamble

Marc Serota

The Jets are apparently wasting no time getting their search for a new general manager underway. Adam Schefter reports they have asked the 49ers to interview Tom Gamble.

Jets and Jaguars have asked permission from San Francisco to interview 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble for their GM jobs.

Gamble is considered one of the hottest candidates for a general manager job this year. He has two decades of experience in almost every role imaginable. He has scouted college. He has scouted the pros. He has coached. He has negotiated contracts. He has a very good resume. Gamble seems like a quality candidate. Many people look great on paper and end up not working out, but having his kind of experience is a very good thing. I'm not sure there is a such thing as a sure thing on this search, but he belongs at the top of the list.

It feels strange to see how the Jets have handled this things so far. They seem to be making the right moves.
