Greg McElroy has an abdominal injury

Could the Jets be forced to turn back to Mark Sanchez, or even Tim Tebow?

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

In the latest chapter of the ongoing saga of sadness that is the New York Jets' quarterback situation, Week 16 starter Greg McElroy is considered questionable for the season finale due to an, "abdominal issue," according to multiple reports

It was generally expected that McElroy would get another chance to start this week against the Buffalo Bills given the game's lack of significance, but the Jets may be forced to turn back to Sanchez now, just weeks after benching him.

It's unclear how Tim Tebow plays into this whole situation at this point, particularly after he reportedly asked out of the team's wildcat packages before last week's game, but it's difficult to imagine Rex Ryan turning to the former Denver Bronco now if he didn't earlier this season.

McElroy made his first professional start in last week's 27-17 loss to the San Diego Chargers after the Jets finally decided to bench incumbent starter Mark Sanchez. The second-year pro out of Alabama often looked overwhelmed by the Chargers' pass rush, getting sacked 11 times while completing only 14 passes.
