Manish Mehta reports Mark Sanchez will be the number two quarterback Sunday.
For now, Sanchez is a backup in New York. The News first reported Friday that Sanchez is expected to be the No. 2 quarterback on Sunday. Rex Ryan had yet to specify whether Greg McElroy’s backup would be Sanchez or Tim Tebow.
I would rather see Tim Tebow as the backup quarterback and Sanchez inactive. At this point, I think Tebow is a better option, and the Jets have only activated two quarterbacks most of the year. It's not really a big deal, though. The most important move was making Greg McElroy the starter. The message was sent.
That means Tebow will be the number three quarterback. I'd imagine this has something to do with Ryan refusing to talk about it. He doesn't want to have to answer questions about how Tebow gets demoted for Sanchez's bad play, something that doesn't make a ton of sense.
