Braylon Edwards Perhaps Getting Contract Extension?

Al Bello

Jake Steinberg of The Jets Blog reports there is a possibility the Jets will extend Braylon Edwards' contract.

I'm told it's possible the will re-do Braylon's contract and tack on a year with a low salary and potential incentives.

If you want to talk about a move that makes no sense, this would be it. What's done is done. Edwards is back on the team. Bringing him back was a questionable move, but he's here.

Giving him any kind of contract extension should be out of the question. We don't know if this guy can still play. He looked finished in Seattle. Even if the extension is for the league minimum, the Jets should use this as a three game tryout. Give Edwards the motivation of knowing he's playing for his next contract. Make him earn his extension.

This shouldn't be a consideration. I don't want to be this critical, but there's no other way to put it. The Jets keep finding new ways to be stupid. At this point, I'm guessing Mike Tannenbaum has a job waiting for him with the Giants and is trying to figure out a way to get the Jets to fire him like George Costanza in that episode of Seinfeld.
