What to watch for? Mark Sanchez's Reaction!

In the second of our weekly series we are staying on the offensive side of the ball. After being shut out by the 49'ers we really don't have a choice.

13/29 for 103 yards, 44.8% completion, 3.55 average, long of 22 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception, 1 fumble, QBR of 2.8 and a QB rating of 39.9. That is a pretty grim stat line, that is Mark Sanchez's stat line against the San Francisco 49'ers last Sunday. The problem? his quarterback rating hasn't been above 67 since week 1.

I have been a critic of Mark ever since we drafted him back in 2009, I love seeing him do well but I just don't expect it. Unfortunately for me, it is becoming increasingly obvious that he is not a long term solution as a signal caller in New York. He still makes extremely poor decisions, he still has severe accuracy issues and he still doesn't look like he is in control of his offense.

I can't even begin to explain how important week 5 is for Mark Sanchez, he needs a bounce back week. He needs to show us why we should believe in him as the future of this franchise. This is year four now, there are no maturity or experience excuses. Unfortunately he's going to have to do it with a very suspect receiving core against a very active defense.

What happens if Mark Sanchez has another 49'ers performance against the Texans? that would be his 4th below par performance in five weeks. At some point you need to call a spade a spade and look for a solution somewhere else. Whether the organization just wants to let him try and play out of it and the Jets season is a victim to this, well we will find out. Maybe they throw their trust in Tim Tebow or Greg McElroy.

I know there are a lot of Sanchez backers here but even the most optimist of you must admit that with another poor performance his starting space should be in jeopardy. We're in the business of winning football games, we are paying him way too much, for my money he is one of the most overpaid players in the league based solely on performance.

I want to be proved wrong, I want him to come out and light it up against the Texans.....I'm just not confident that this is going to happen.
