Two very reliable sources say Jets fullback John Conner will be healthy enough to play against the Cowboys Sunday despite the sprained ankle he has been nursing.
Conner sprained his right ankle on Aug. 29 in the preseason game against the Giants. He said he ran for the first time yesterday and the season opener is not a question for him.
Ryan echoed that feeling.
"There's no doubt. I think he will play," Ryan said. "I really feel strongly that he will play. Keep him out of practice [today], regular schedule [tomorrow].
It is good that he will be healthy enough to go. Preseason injuries are always tough to tell the severity of. In many cases, players could go if they had to. There is just no need to push it in meaningless games.
The run game will be better off with Conner serving as a lead blocker for the backs.
